Product Details & Size Guide
GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
From its Denver beginnings in 1879, The Denver Dry Goods Company grew into a familiar part of Colorado’s shopping history. The downtown store opened under a new name in 1886, then expanded through later decades as the business evolved with the region. This foldable mobile phone display stand brings a piece of that department-store story to your daily routine. Its heritage theme makes it a distinctive desk keepsake for Denver history enthusiasts and collectors of regional retail memorabilia.
The Denver Dry Goods Company began in Denver, Colorado, in 1879, founded by Michael J. McNamara and L. H. Flanders as M. J. McNamara & Company. Their business roots reach back to 1876, when both worked as clerks at a Denver dry goods store. McNamara formed a partnership with Edgar H. Drew in 1877; after Drew left two years later, Flanders joined as co-owner. The business was purchased and renamed The McNamara Dry Goods Company in 1886, opening under that name on October 11. In 1893 McNamara transferred ownership to Dennis Sheedy and Charles Kountz, and the company was reorganized as Denver Dry Goods Company in 1894. Its downtown Denver store, built in 1889, was expanded in 1898, 1906 and 1924. The company later became part of Associated Dry Goods, which expanded its stores in the Denver area and other locations, including Billings, Montana. May Company acquired it as part of Associated Dry Goods in 1986. Nine of 12 locations closed and were sold; the remaining three became May-Daniels & Fisher stores in 1987. The original downtown building was converted to apartments in 1994.
