The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, known as A&P, was an American grocery chain operating from 1859 to 2015. George Gilman began the business as Gilman & Company in New York City, entering the tea and coffee trade in 1859. It became the Great American Tea Company in 1863, and the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company was created in 1869 to promote prepackaged Thea-Nector tea. The chain grew through stores, mail order, wagon routes, private brands, and premiums. Under the Hartford family, A&P introduced economy stores in 1912 and reached 1,600 stores by 1915. It added meat and produce after World War I, opened supermarkets beginning in 1933, and operated 4,000 supermarkets by 1950. A&P was the nation’s largest grocery retailer from 1915 through 1975. Later banners and acquisitions included Family Mart, Super Fresh, Waldbaum’s, The Food Emporium, Farmer Jack, and Pathmark. Following bankruptcies and divestitures, the final A&P stores closed in 2015.

- Before cleaning the bag, remove all the items from the bag. Suggested to pretreat visible stains with stain remover. Mix warm water with laundry detergent and clean the bag with terry washcloth or soft bristle brush. Let the bag air dry.
