GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Carry a reminder of The Molasses Flood’s distinctive studio history on your next trip. Founded in Boston in 2014, the independent developer made The Flame in the Flood and Drake Hollow, then saw its story change through acquisition and integration into a larger company. Fans of game development history will recognize the studio as a creative team with a brief, well-documented path. This passport cover connects that legacy to travel, discovery, and the games that made the name memorable.
The Molasses Flood LLC was an American video game developer founded in 2014 and based in Boston, Massachusetts. Its founders were industry veterans and former employees of several established game studios. The company’s first game, The Flame in the Flood, is a survival game set in a post-apocalyptic river landscape. Released in 2016 for multiple platforms, it received positive reviews from critics and players and was nominated for several awards. The studio’s second game was Drake Hollow. CD Projekt acquired The Molasses Flood in 2021. In early 2022, the studio began work with CD Projekt Red North America on Project Sirius, a multiplayer-oriented game set in The Witcher universe. In March 2024, CD Projekt announced a significant write-off related to the project; its development was rebooted, and 29 employees were laid off. On April 1, 2025, the development team was absorbed into CD Projekt Red, and The Molasses Flood ceased to exist as a separate legal entity. Developers continued working on Project Sirius, while some studio leaders, including co-founder Damian Isla, left the company.
