Product Details & Size Guide
Bring a small piece of early American motorcycle history to everyday adventures with this Thor Motorcycles toddler tee. Thor began as the motorcycle marque of Aurora Automatic Machinery Company, an Illinois machine shop that first made bicycle parts. After building engines for Indian motorcycles, Aurora introduced complete Thor motorcycles in 1907. The story grew through early V-twin development and racing achievements, making this design a charming way to share a remarkable chapter of motorcycling with the next generation.
Thor was the motorcycle marque of Aurora Automatic Machinery Company, a business that began as an Aurora, Illinois, machine shop in 1886 and made bicycle parts. In 1901, Aurora worked with Oscar Hedstrom to produce engines for Indian motorcycles. By 1902, it had made 150 motors for the company, while its agreement allowed it to sell engines to other buyers for a royalty. Thor initially supplied engines and parts rather than complete motorcycles. When the agreement ended in 1907, Aurora developed and sold its own motorcycles under the Thor name. The marque introduced a V-twin in 1910, first with one cylinder upright, and had a larger, conventional V-shaped twin by 1913. Thor also developed automatic intake valves and offered features including belt drive and, by 1916, a three-speed transmission. William Ottaway led the company’s racing efforts from 1909 until 1913, when Thor motorcycles set national records. Thor stopped making motorcycle engines in 1916, and motorcycle production dwindled in the late 1910s, ending around 1920. Aurora continued as a company, and Thor persisted as a household-appliance brand.
