Product Details & Size Guide
GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Keep business cards close with a nod to Three Rivers Computer, the Pittsburgh company founded in 1974 from research at Carnegie Mellon University's Computer Science Department. 3RCC developed display equipment and computer systems before launching its PERQ workstation in 1979. Its later focus on PERQ and joint development with ICL connected American research roots with work in the United Kingdom. This card holder makes a thoughtful desk accessory for computing history collectors and fans of early workstation innovation.
Three Rivers Computer Corporation, also known as 3RCC, began in May 1974 as a spin-off from the Research Engineering Laboratory of Carnegie Mellon University's Computer Science Department. Founded in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, by Brian S. Rosen, James R. Teter, William H. Broadley, J. Stanley Kriz, D. Raj Reddy, and Paul G. Newbury, it set out to manufacture advanced computer displays, peripherals, and systems. Early products included graphics and color-video display equipment, analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters for music and speech research, and a monitor for testing PDP-11 minicomputers. In 1979, the company introduced PERQ, its principal line of high-performance, single-user workstation computers, featuring versatile graphics displays. In summer 1980, it divested activities unrelated to PERQ. From 1981, 3RCC developed and produced PERQ jointly with ICL in the United Kingdom. The company changed its name to PERQ Systems Corporation in 1984 and became insolvent in 1985. Its history links university research, Pittsburgh technology manufacturing, and the development of graphical workstations.
