Give your phone a place beside a remarkable railroad story with this foldable display stand honoring the Toledo, Cincinnati and St. Louis Railroad. The narrow-gauge system linked communities across Ohio, Indiana and Illinois, and its extension toward East St. Louis helped create an ambitious route for express trains in 1883. Receivership and foreclosure soon divided the enterprise among successor lines. This practical desk accessory brings a distinctive piece of 19th-century rail history into a collector's everyday space.

The Toledo, Cincinnati and St. Louis Railroad (TC&StL) was a three-foot narrow-gauge line serving Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. Its predecessor, the Toledo, Delphos and Burlington Railroad (TD&B), formed on May 23, 1879, through a merger of several railroads. In 1881, the TD&B joined with the Iron Railroad, whose line it had arranged to dual-gauge, and the combined enterprise retained the TD&B name. The TD&B had shifted its planned western terminus from Burlington, Iowa, to East St. Louis, Illinois; a TC&StL subsidiary was formed in February 1881 to build the extension from Kokomo, Indiana. The TD&B and TC&StL merged on February 23, 1882, under the TC&StL name. By March 1, 1883, the extension was operational, and express trains linked Toledo, Cincinnati and East St. Louis that summer across a system of about 780 miles. Financial trouble brought receivership later in 1883. Foreclosure divided the railroad in 1884 and 1885, with successor lines including the Toledo, St. Louis and Kansas City Railroad, Dayton and Toledo Railroad, Dayton and Ironton Railroad, and Cincinnati, Lebanon and Northern Railway.
