Toledo, St. Louis and Western Railroad Cuffed Beanie
Product Details & Size Guide
Keep the Clover Leaf close on cool days with this Toledo, St. Louis and Western Railroad Cuffed Beanie. The name recalls a railway that linked Toledo with East St. Louis and served communities across Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. From narrow-gauge beginnings through standard-gauge conversion and its 1922 merger, the railroad offers a compact story with plenty of interest for collectors. Make this beanie part of a railfan wardrobe, a railroad-history collection, or a thoughtful present for someone who enjoys the lines that shaped the region.
The Toledo, St. Louis and Western Railroad, abbreviated TStL&W and commonly called the Clover Leaf, operated in northwestern Ohio, north central Indiana, and south central Illinois during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Its roots go back to the Toledo, Cincinnati and St. Louis Railroad, formed in February 1881 by consolidating several smaller narrow-gauge lines connecting Toledo and Cincinnati, Ohio, with St. Louis, Missouri. After financial difficulties, the company dropped its Cincinnati arm and reorganized in June 1886 as the Toledo, St. Louis and Kansas City Railroad. Over the next two to three years, its lines were converted to standard gauge. The 1886 company included the Toledo, Dupont and Western Railway of Ohio, the Bluffton, Kokomo and Southwestern Railroad of Indiana, and the Toledo, Charleston and St. Louis Railroad of Illinois. In 1900, it reorganized under the name Toledo, St. Louis and Western Railroad and operated 450.72 miles of line between Toledo and East St. Louis. On December 28, 1922, the Clover Leaf became part of the New York, Chicago and St. Louis Railroad, commonly known as the Nickel Plate. That railroad eventually became part of Norfolk Southern.

This cuffed beanie carries a lived-in street energy—soft, warm, and quietly bold. The low-profile embroidery sits on the cuff like a personal insignia: a small, slightly distressed logo with a touch of red that reads as both vintage and current. It slips on easily and stays put through commutes, late-night walks, and chilly market runs, adding a subtle graphic edge without shouting.
Wear it with a worn denim jacket, layered knit, or an oversized coat. It works for creatives who like to curate a look that’s casual but considered, for city cyclists who need dependable warmth, or for anyone who favors compact, tactile details. The hypoallergenic acrylic knit keeps things comfortable against the skin while the 12" cuff gives you styling flexibility—fold it high for warmth or roll it low for a slouchier silhouette. This is a small, everyday piece that quietly completes an outfit and ages into its own personality.
