Trans World Airlines (TWA) Kids Tee / T-Shirt
Bring a piece of aviation history to the next generation with this Trans World Airlines kids tee. TWA helped define the romance of American air travel, connecting coasts through St. Louis and Kansas City before expanding across the Atlantic and into the jet age. Its story spans the first all-plane coast-to-coast schedules, the soaring TWA Flight Center at JFK, and decades of memorable travel culture. A natural pick for young plane fans and families with a connection to TWA history.
Trans World Airlines, widely known as TWA, traced its corporate history to July 16, 1930, when Transcontinental Air Transport, Western Air Express, Maddux Air Lines, Standard, and Pittsburgh Aviation Industries Corporation were brought together as Transcontinental & Western Air. Formed to link New York City and Los Angeles through St. Louis, Kansas City, and other stops, it introduced all-plane coast-to-coast scheduled service in October 1930. The company adopted the name Trans World Airlines in 1950. Howard Hughes acquired stock beginning in 1939 and held control by 1944, while postwar expansion brought service to Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. TWA later became an all-jet airline in 1967 and developed major hubs in St. Louis and New York. Its landmark TWA Flight Center at JFK, designed by Eero Saarinen, opened in 1962. After deregulation and financial strain, TWA was spun off in 1983, acquired Ozark Air Lines in 1986, and entered restructurings in the 1990s. American Airlines acquired TWA in 2001; the company remained an LLC until July 1, 2003.
