This Ultimate Electronics kids tee brings a favorite old retail name into family storytelling. Ultimate grew from Colorado roots connected to Pearse Electronics, SoundTrack Colorado, and Audio King, then expanded rapidly through the early 2000s. It is a fun choice for young members of families who remember electronics-store outings, mall weekends, and the familiar chain name that disappeared when operations ended in 2011.
Ultimate Electronics was a consumer electronics store chain incorporated in Delaware with principal offices in Thornton, Colorado. Its Colorado roots included Pearse Electronics, while earlier stores also operated as SoundTrack Colorado and Audio King in Minnesota, Iowa, and South Dakota. The company began a major expansion campaign in 2000 and had doubled its store count to 64 by 2004. In 2005, Ultimate filed for bankruptcy; Hollywood Video founder and then-CEO Mark Wattles acquired 32 stores at the bankruptcy auction, while the remaining half closed. The reorganized business became privately held and was operated by Ultimate Acquisition Partners, L.P., a division of Wattles Capital Management, LLC. In November 2010, it opened a Tigard, Oregon store, its only West Coast location. On January 27, 2011, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, later converted to Chapter 7 liquidation, ending operations in 2011.
