GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Celebrate the frequent air service that connected three major northeastern cities with this US Airways Shuttle sign. The route between Boston, New York City, and Washington, D.C., traces its roots to Eastern Air Lines service in 1961. Later identities included Trump Shuttle and USAir Shuttle, before the operation merged into US Airways’ mainline in 2000. A fitting display for an office, collection, or travel-inspired space, this sign recalls a distinct airline chapter shaped by changing ownership and enduring service.
US Airways Shuttle was the brand for US Airways' frequent air service linking Boston's Logan International Airport, New York City's LaGuardia Airport, and Washington, D.C.'s Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Its predecessor, the Eastern Air Lines Shuttle, began serving the route in 1961. In 1989, the operation was purchased from Eastern during that airline's dismantling and briefly ran as Trump Shuttle, from June 7, 1989, until its owners defaulted on loans in September 1990. A syndicate of 22 lenders then arranged for USAir Group to hold a 40 percent interest and manage the operation. On April 7, 1992, Trump Shuttle was merged into Shuttle, Inc.; the new company began operating as USAir Shuttle on April 12. USAir Group later acquired the remaining interest, and the service continued as a wholly owned subsidiary with its own employees and seniority list. Shuttle, Inc. remained a subsidiary until July 1, 2000, when the shuttle merged into US Airways' mainline operation. Frequent service continued, though no longer as a separate airline or division. A temporary expansion to Washington Dulles ended after the September 11, 2001 attacks. First-class seats joined the shuttle fleet in 2004. On October 17, 2015, the service became American Airlines Shuttle.
