Mark a distinctive piece of Belgian aviation history in your collection. VG Airlines began in 2001 after Sabena’s bankruptcy and operated Brussels routes to Boston, Los Angeles, and New York–JFK. Its aircraft livery combined dark and light grey with a feathered Belgian flag on the tail, while the airline’s name changed to Delsey Airlines in August 2002. This ceramic ornament honors that concise, documented story and suits collectors interested in airline identities and early-2000s aviation.
VG Airlines was founded in 2001 to operate flights from Belgium to North America, following the bankruptcy of Sabena. Its head office was in Merksem, Antwerp, Belgium. The airline operated routes from Brussels to Boston, Los Angeles, and New York–JFK. Its aircraft livery used dark and light grey with a feathered Belgian flag on the tailfin; Lila Design, based in the Netherlands, created this design and the aircraft paint concept for the airline’s later identity. On August 8, 2002, VG Airlines was renamed Delsey Airlines, a name drawn from Delsey suitcases. The company ceased operations on November 5; the supplied account does not specify the year for that date. The airline code was IV, which was later assigned to Windjet. VG Airlines thus links a short-lived Belgian carrier launched after Sabena’s bankruptcy with a subsequent brand transition to Delsey Airlines. Its documented history centers on its 2001 founding, Brussels-based North American service, Belgian headquarters, distinctive aircraft livery, and cessation of operations.
