Alaska Air Group announced its acquisition in April 2016; the deal closed in December. Virgin America continued operating under its own brand during the transition. Its final revenue flight under the Redwood callsign was January 10, 2018. The airlines received a combined operating certificate the next day, and Virgin America was integrated into Alaska Airlines’ passenger service system on April 25, 2018. Its aircraft were subsequently repainted in Alaska Airlines livery.
