GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Keep a small reminder of a distinctive cola story close to home with this Virgin Cola Square Porcelain Fridge Magnet. From its 1994 United Kingdom launch to the introduction of the Pammy bottle and later market exits, the brand’s timeline reflects the opportunities and challenges of taking on established soft drink names. Its production eventually ended across its remaining markets, giving collectors a clear closing chapter. A memorable keepsake for fans of beverage history and 1990s corporate branding.
Virgin Cola was a carbonated soft drink conceived by Richard Branson and launched in 1994 through Virgin Group and Cott Beverage Corporation. The venture paired Virgin’s international brand ambitions with Cott’s experience bottling own-label drinks, aiming to challenge established cola brands. It first reached consumers in the United Kingdom, including through Virgin Atlantic flights, Virgin Trains shops and Virgin Cinemas, before a supermarket distribution agreement with Tesco in 1994. From 1996, its 500 ml bottles were promoted as “The Pammy,” with a shape inspired by Pamela Anderson. The brand expanded into Europe and other regions, and launched in the United States in 1998. Its UK bottling license moved from Cott to Princes Soft Drinks and, in August 2007, to Silver Spring. Virgin Cola left the US market in 2001. UK sales ended in 2009 after Asda, its last major stocker, stopped carrying it. Production also ended in the Philippines in 2013 and Bangladesh in 2014, where Global Beverage Company Limited was its final international licensee. With production discontinued, the brand ceased to exist as a beverage.
