W. H. McIntyre Automobile 20oz Insulated Tumbler
Product Details & Size Guide
Take a piece of early motoring history along for the day with a design inspired by W. H. McIntyre Automobile. The company grew from an Auburn buggy maker into a builder of high-wheelers, runabouts, tourers, and trucks. Its 1913 IMP Cyclecar added another bold form to that changing lineup. For collectors and curious history fans, this tumbler connects daily routines with the ingenuity and uncertainty of the Brass Era, when established makers were finding their way into a new industry.
The W. H. Kiblinger Company began as a buggy manufacturer in 1887 in Auburn, Indiana. After founder W. H. Kiblinger died in 1894, William H. McIntyre co-purchased the business and experimented with automobiles from about 1897. In 1907 the company began selling Kiblinger high-wheelers, with tiller steering and air-cooled, two-cylinder engines. Following a patent lawsuit brought by the maker of the Success high-wheeler, McIntyre bought out the partners and formed the W. H. McIntyre Company in December 1908. The firm made buggies and high-wheelers, later offering runabouts, tourers and trucks. By 1911 it also marketed a four-cylinder America automobile as the McIntyre Special; a six-cylinder McIntyre Limited followed in 1913. That year the company introduced the IMP Cyclecar, designed by William Stout, and in 1914 offered the IMP-based Model 4-25 light car. The related Tudhope-McIntyre venture, formed in 1908 in Orillia, Ontario, built high-wheelers using McIntyre-supplied parts until a factory fire in August 1909 ended that production. With sales slowing, McIntyre entered receivership in January 1915. DeKalb Manufacturing Company bought its assets and assembled cars for about two more years.
