GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Carry a piece of American brokerage history wherever your travels lead. This Wachovia Securities luggage tag recalls the firm’s rise from First Union Securities and IJL Wachovia, its connection to Prudential Securities, and its later place in the Wells Fargo transition. The story reaches from Richmond and Charlotte to St. Louis, where the brokerage headquarters moved after the A. G. Edwards acquisition. A thoughtful keepsake for collectors, former employees, and finance history enthusiasts.
Wachovia Securities was an American brokerage firm and the capital markets subsidiary of Wachovia, providing retail brokerage, institutional capital markets, and investment banking services. Its principal predecessor firms included Prudential Securities and First Union Securities. The Prudential lineage began with Leopold Cahn & Co., founded in New York in 1879, renamed J.S. Bache & Co. in 1892, shortened to Bache & Co. in 1945, acquired by Prudential Insurance Company of America in 1981, and renamed Prudential Securities in 1991. The First Union lineage began with J.C. Wheat & Co., founded in Richmond, Virginia, in 1934. First Union acquired Wheat First Butcher Singer in 1998 and Everen Capital Corporation in 1999. First Union acquired Wachovia in 2001 and adopted the Wachovia name. In 2002, First Union Securities became Wachovia Securities after merging with IJL Wachovia. Wachovia acquired Prudential Securities' retail brokerage arm in 2003 and A. G. Edwards in 2007, moving the brokerage headquarters from Richmond to St. Louis. Wells Fargo completed its acquisition of Wachovia on December 31, 2008. On May 1, 2009, retail brokerage operations became Wells Fargo Advisors, while institutional capital markets and investment banking became Wells Fargo Securities.
