Add a small piece of airline history to your desk with a sticky note pad celebrating Western Airlines. Founded in 1925 as Western Air Express, the company began by carrying airmail between Salt Lake City and Los Angeles, then expanded into a major carrier serving destinations across the West and beyond. The Flying W identity and the airline’s eventual 1987 integration into Delta make Western a memorable subject for aviation collectors and travel history fans. Keep notes close at hand while enjoying a reminder of the routes and people that shaped air travel.

Founded in 1925 by Harris Hanshue as Western Air Express, the airline began with a U.S. airmail contract linking Salt Lake City, Utah, and Los Angeles, California. Its first flight took place on April 17, 1926, and passenger service followed a month later. After a 1930 purchase of Standard Air Lines, Western Air Express joined Transcontinental Air Transport to form Transcontinental & Western Air; it separated in 1934 and returned to its earlier name. The company became Western Air Lines in 1941, later known as Western Airlines. Acquisitions and mergers expanded its network, including National Parks Airways in 1937, Inland Air Lines, whose operations were absorbed in 1952, and Pacific Northern Airlines in 1967. Based at Los Angeles International Airport, Western developed major hubs in Los Angeles and Salt Lake City, with Denver also a hub in earlier years. Its routes reached across the western United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, Mexico and, for a time, London. Following a merger agreement with Delta Air Lines in 1986, Western became a Delta subsidiary that December. The Western brand and workforce were integrated into Delta on April 1, 1987; Delta retained the Los Angeles and Salt Lake City hubs.

Keep a stack by the phone for action items, stash a pad in your planner for weekly priorities, or place one on a conference table where everyone can jot a quick note. The adhesive holds through handling but releases cleanly when you move items around. For people who prefer minimal branding and maximum writing space, these pads help keep thoughts visible and tasks moving forward without shouting for attention.
