GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
For young fans of planes and Alaska history, this Wien Air Alaska hoodie celebrates a regional carrier with an uncommon story. Noel Wien’s early bush-flying business developed into scheduled service linking places such as Fairbanks and Nome, then expanded across Alaska. The airline helped pioneer jet service to gravel runways and operated Boeing 737-200 aircraft before its final flights in 1984. It offers a wearable connection to aviation, exploration, and the communities behind the routes.
Wien Air Alaska grew from Noel Wien’s early bush-flying business in Alaska. On July 6, 1924, he flew from Anchorage to Fairbanks, and in 1927 he began regular weekly service between Fairbanks and Nome. Wien Alaska Airways was incorporated in 1928. The company later operated as Wien Airways of Alaska and Wien Alaska Airlines, and expanded its network and services across the state. On April 1, 1968, Wien merged with Northern Consolidated Airlines, formed from several Alaska air services, and the combined airline was named Wien Consolidated Airlines. It became Wien Air Alaska on August 1, 1973. Its operations included propeller aircraft and Boeing 737-200 jets; the airline helped develop the 737-200 Combi for passenger and freight loads and pioneered jet service to gravel runways. By 1984, its routes reached Alaskan communities and cities in the western United States, with bases in Anchorage and Seattle. After financial pressure and a change in ownership, the airline ceased operations on November 23, 1984. Bankruptcy proceedings began five days later, and the company folded in 1985.
