A proposed merger with Miami-based Akerman Senterfitt, which would have formed a firm with about 800 lawyers, was put on hold on August 7, 2008, after the firms cited a client conflict. On March 23, 2009, WolfBlock's partners voted for an orderly unwinding and dissolution. The firm cited the recession, financial-market disruption, strain on its credit line, and anticipated departures of partners and practices. It remained in practice for several months to protect client, employee, and creditor interests.
