In July 2022, Ginkgo Bioworks agreed to acquire Zymergen for $300 million in an all-stock deal. Zymergen filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on October 3, 2023, and announced liquidation on February 5, 2024, after selling its remaining assets.
