Ghost Corp Apparel — resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Founded in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1845, Bacon’s spent more than 150 years growing from a downtown dry-goods store into one of the region’s best-known department-store names. Generations of shoppers knew Bacon’s for clothing, home goods, big anniversary sales, and the wonderfully chaotic tradition of “Midnight Madness.”

The company survived the Civil War, two World Wars, the Great Depression, suburbanization, and more than a century of changing retail habits.

Then Dillard’s showed up.

After Bacon’s parent company, Mercantile Stores, was acquired by Dillard’s in 1998, the Bacon’s name was retired and its remaining stores were converted.

More than 150 years in business — and apparently the final clearance sale really was final.
