Product Details & Size Guide
Alfred Angelo grew from a Philadelphia bridal business founded in the mid-1930s by Alfred Angelo and his wife, designer Edythe Piccione. The company became known for gowns, bridesmaid dresses, and special-occasion styles before closing its stores in 2017. This cuffed beanie offers a casual way to keep that fashion history in view, connecting a familiar bridal name with the family enterprise and changing collections that shaped its story. It suits collectors drawn to apparel brands with memorable chapters and a distinctive place in wedding retail.
Alfred Angelo Bridal was an American wedding-gown manufacturer and retailer founded by Alfred Angelo and his wife, Edythe Piccione, in Philadelphia in the mid-1930s. Edythe designed dresses, while Alfred focused on manufacturing and business development. The company sold bridal and formal attire through its own stores and partner stores, and later operated from its headquarters in Delray Beach, Florida. Its range included bridal gowns, bridesmaid dresses, dresses for mothers of the bride and flower girls, prom and special-occasion dresses, and wedding accessories. In the 1980s, the founders’ children began managing the business. Collections and labels included Alfred Angelo, Sapphire, Modern Vintage, and Disney Fairy Tale. The company appeared on a 2013 episode of Undercover Boss. On July 13, 2017, it filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy liquidation and immediately closed all its stores. Court administration continued the following year, with $20 million in claims from store customers; much inventory was lost to warehouse and shippers’ liens. In 2019, reported liabilities were $78 million, while a warehouse sale raised $245,000. The intellectual property of its labels was later bought by an online retailer based in Shanghai.

This cuffed beanie carries a lived-in street energy—soft, warm, and quietly bold. The low-profile embroidery sits on the cuff like a personal insignia: a small, slightly distressed logo with a touch of red that reads as both vintage and current. It slips on easily and stays put through commutes, late-night walks, and chilly market runs, adding a subtle graphic edge without shouting.
Wear it with a worn denim jacket, layered knit, or an oversized coat. It works for creatives who like to curate a look that’s casual but considered, for city cyclists who need dependable warmth, or for anyone who favors compact, tactile details. The hypoallergenic acrylic knit keeps things comfortable against the skin while the 12" cuff gives you styling flexibility—fold it high for warmth or roll it low for a slouchier silhouette. This is a small, everyday piece that quietly completes an outfit and ages into its own personality.
