The Incredible Universe Kids Tee / T-Shirt brings a legendary 1990s electronics-store story into the next generation. Incredible Universe was known for giant destination stores where shoppers explored technology, entertainment, software, accessories, and live demonstrations around a central rotunda. Operating from 1992 to 1997, the chain left behind vivid memories for families who loved its larger-than-life approach to shopping. A fun tribute for young members of a technology-loving household.
Incredible Universe was an American consumer electronics store chain that operated from 1992 to 1997. Conceived by former Tandy CEO John V. Roach, it was launched as a joint venture between Tandy Corporation and Trans World Entertainment after growth had stalled at Tandy's smaller electronics retail operations and personal computer business. The first two stores opened in Arlington, Texas, and Wilsonville, Oregon. Built as very large destination stores, a typical location combined about 185,000 square feet of sales floor and warehouse space and carried roughly 85,000 items. The concept used theme-park-inspired internal language, calling departments scenes, workers cast members, shoppers guests, and uniforms costumes. Stores centered on a rotunda with demonstrations and presentations, with electronics, computers, software, music, video, and accessory departments around it. Rapid expansion added 15 stores through 1996, but high operating costs and stronger competition hurt profitability. Six consistently profitable locations were sold to Fry's Electronics in 1996; the remaining chain closed or was sold between 1996 and 1997.
