GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Start the day with a mug inspired by Jackson & Curtis, a Boston brokerage founded on Congress Street in 1879. From its early two-person operation to its 1890 New York Stock Exchange seat, the firm represents an era when regional institutions shaped American finance. The 1942 merger with Paine & Webber opened the next chapter in its long story. Ideal for desks, study spaces, and collectors drawn to historic corporate names with real roots.
Jackson & Curtis was founded in July 1879 on Congress Street in Boston, Massachusetts, by Charles Cabot Jackson and Laurence Curtis. The investment banking and stock brokerage firm began with two employees and leased premises on Congress Street in May 1881. It belonged to the Boston Stock Exchange and acquired a seat on the New York Stock Exchange in 1890. In June 1942, following the difficult years of the Great Depression, Jackson & Curtis merged with the Boston brokerage firm Paine & Webber. The combined business, Paine, Webber, Jackson & Curtis, had 22 branch offices and became a significant participant in the New England financial market. Its headquarters moved from Boston to New York in 1963. The holding company, PaineWebber Inc., was incorporated in 1970 and went public in 1974. Later acquisitions included Mitchell Hutchins in 1977 and Blyth, Eastman Dillon & Co. in 1979. In 1984, its divisions were consolidated under the Paine Webber brand. Paine Webber was acquired by UBS AG in 2000.
