The MetroJet Laptop Sleeve brings a focused piece of aviation history to the daily commute. MetroJet launched from Baltimore-Washington in 1998 as US Airways' dedicated low-cost brand, flying a single Boeing 737-200 fleet across Northeast and Florida routes. Its distinctive red, gray, and blue era ended in 2001, but its compact story still resonates with collectors who appreciate airline design, route history, and the changing business of air travel.
MetroJet was the low-cost airline brand operated as a wholly owned division of US Airways from 1998 to 2001. Following labor negotiations concluded in 1997, US Airways created the brand to address growing low-cost competition in the Northeastern United States. Service launched on June 1, 1998, from Baltimore-Washington International Airport to Cleveland, Providence, Fort Lauderdale, and Manchester. The operation used a single class of service and a dedicated Boeing 737-200 fleet, beginning with five aircraft in a red and gray fuselage design with a blue US Airways logo tail. Its network expanded over the next two years to include Washington Dulles International Airport and point-to-point routes, with Florida connections a focus. MetroJet participated in its parent airline's frequent-flyer program and systems. After the September 11 attacks, financial disruption and the extended closure of Washington National Airport contributed to the network's closure. US Airways announced the shutdown on September 24, 2001; the final MetroJet 737 was retired that December. The Baltimore hub had been inherited by US Airways through its earlier merger with Piedmont Airlines.

- Use warm water, dish soap and clean spots off your sleeve. It's not necessary to soak the whole sleeve. For hard to clean spots use a soft bristled brush.
