GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Keep notes beside a reminder of Sea Containers’ remarkable route through corporate history. Founded in 1965 as a cargo-container leasing business, the company later reached into hotels, railways and ferry services. Its ventures included the Venice-Simplon Orient Express, relaunched in 1982, and Great North Eastern Railway, which began operating a rail franchise in 1996. After financial setbacks and a 2006 bankruptcy filing, the remaining maritime container interests transferred to SeaCo in 2009. A useful desk companion for transport enthusiasts, history readers and collectors of notable company names.

Sea Containers was established in 1965 by James Sherwood, a Yale graduate and former United States Navy officer, with initial capital of $100,000. Registered in Bermuda, it began by leasing cargo containers to shipping companies. It became a public company in 1968 and joined the New York Stock Exchange in 1974. Over the following decades, the business diversified into hotels, railways and ferry services. Sherwood’s hotel purchases helped create the Orient-Express Hotels chain, in which Sea Containers retained a stake until 2005. He also arranged the restoration of 1920s rail carriages for the Venice-Simplon Orient Express, relaunched in 1982. In 1996, subsidiary Great North Eastern Railway began operating the InterCity East Coast rail franchise; a new franchise awarded in 2005 required payments to the British state rather than subsidies. Financial setbacks and heavy debt preceded Sherwood’s resignation in March 2006. Sea Containers filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on 16 October 2006. The remaining maritime container interests transferred to newly created SeaCo Ltd in 2009, while the rest of the group was wound down and liquidated.

Keep a stack by the phone for action items, stash a pad in your planner for weekly priorities, or place one on a conference table where everyone can jot a quick note. The adhesive holds through handling but releases cleanly when you move items around. For people who prefer minimal branding and maximum writing space, these pads help keep thoughts visible and tasks moving forward without shouting for attention.
