Product Details & Size Guide

GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Remember a familiar Midwest store with this Shopko Cuffed Beanie, inspired by the company’s path from one Green Bay department store to a regional retail presence. Founded in 1962, Shopko expanded into communities across several states and became part of everyday shopping memories for generations of customers. Its history also includes the ShopKo name, Pamida, and Shopko Hometown. Whether you grew up visiting its stores or collect reminders of Wisconsin business history, this piece keeps the Shopko story close through every season.

Shopko began as ShopKo Corporation, founded by Chicago pharmacist James Ruben and investors in 1962. Its first department store opened on Military Avenue in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and the company later established its headquarters in nearby Ashwaubenon. It expanded across the Midwest, adding pharmacy and optical services and, in 1971, merging with SuperValu. Shopko became publicly traded in 1991. Its 1999 purchase of regional discount retailer Pamida added stores serving smaller communities; Pamida later separated from Shopko, then merged with it in 2012, when many former Pamida locations became Shopko Hometown stores. In 2005, an affiliate of Sun Capital Partners acquired Shopko and returned it to private ownership. The company adopted the Shopko name in 2007, while smaller Shopko Express pharmacies and Hometown stores broadened its formats. Shopko filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on January 16, 2019, and announced that March that it would close its remaining stores. Most retail operations ended by June 23, 2019. Shopko Optical locations continued operating and were later acquired by Fielmann AG.

This cuffed beanie carries a lived-in street energy—soft, warm, and quietly bold. The low-profile embroidery sits on the cuff like a personal insignia: a small, slightly distressed logo with a touch of red that reads as both vintage and current. It slips on easily and stays put through commutes, late-night walks, and chilly market runs, adding a subtle graphic edge without shouting.

Wear it with a worn denim jacket, layered knit, or an oversized coat. It works for creatives who like to curate a look that’s casual but considered, for city cyclists who need dependable warmth, or for anyone who favors compact, tactile details. The hypoallergenic acrylic knit keeps things comfortable against the skin while the 12" cuff gives you styling flexibility—fold it high for warmth or roll it low for a slouchier silhouette. This is a small, everyday piece that quietly completes an outfit and ages into its own personality.
