Abelag Aviation

Ghost Corp Apparel — resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Abelag Aviation was a Belgian business-aviation pioneer founded in 1964 by André Ganshof van der Meersch in Grimbergen. From its Brussels-area base, Abelag built a long-running identity around private aircraft charter, management, and the decidedly less democratic pleasures of getting somewhere without joining the boarding scrum.

The company helped define business flying in Belgium: Luxaviation’s history credits Abelag with registering Belgium’s first business jet in 1970 and receiving the European Business Aviation Association’s Gold Safety Flight Award in May 2010 for more than 40 years of safe operations. Abelag also briefly partnered with Sun International and Herfurth in 1979 to form Abelag Airways, a charter venture that became Air Belgium after Abelag withdrew in February 1980.

Luxaviation acquired Abelag in 2013. The familiar Abelag trading name was retired in 2016, when the operation became Luxaviation Belgium; Abelag Handling and Abelag Technics also moved under the ExecuJet name. The old logo left the ramp, but the Brussels-and-Kortrijk operation kept flying—because corporate ghosts rarely miss their departure slot.

Our Abelag Aviation collection celebrates Belgium’s early business-jet era: polished ramp service, serious flight crews, and a name that made private aviation sound both elegant and faintly like a classified file.
