Nash's

Ghost Corp Apparel — resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

F. C. Nash & Co., better known as Nash’s, began in Pasadena, California, in 1889. What started as the Nash family’s cash grocery on East Colorado Boulevard developed into a full-service department store—because apparently selling groceries was not nearly complicated enough. Hammond G. Nash later led the business and helped turn the hometown store into a regional retail name.

By the 1950s and 1960s, Nash’s had branches in Alhambra, Arcadia, Whittier, Fullerton, and Pomona, alongside its Pasadena flagship. A Whittier store opened in November 1954, while the company invested in remodeling and parking at its Pasadena operation during the early 1960s. Nash’s was a local-chain answer to the department-store age: practical merchandise, familiar downtown addresses, and a place where a shopping trip could occupy the whole afternoon.

The retail weather changed. New mall-based competitors pressured Nash’s smaller downtown branches, which closed in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Then, on March 10, 1976, a major fire destroyed the Pasadena flagship. The loss proved too severe for the chain to overcome, and Nash’s soon disappeared from Southern California retailing.

Our Nash's collection celebrates the stubbornly stylish spirit of the independent department store: Colorado Boulevard retail grandeur, branch-store expansion, parking-lot modernity, and one very dramatic exit. Department-store ghosts do not punch out quietly.
