AOL Media LLC is a New York City-based web portal and former online service provider, owned by Bending Spoons. Its lineage reaches back to Control Video Corporation, founded in 1983, and its GameLine service for the 2600. In 1985, Jim Kimsey formed Quantum Computer Services from its remnants; Quantum Link launched for Commodore computers that year, using software licensed from PlayNet. Following PC Link and Apple-focused services, the company renamed its service America Online in 1989. AOL became a leading online service, with about three million active users by 1995 and more than 20 million consumers receiving internet service by 2000. It acquired Netscape in 1998 and MapQuest in 1999, then merged with Time Warner in 2001. AOL was spun off in 2009, acquired by Verizon in 2015, and combined with Yahoo as Oath in 2016, later Verizon Media. Verizon sold the division to Apollo in 2021; Apollo sold AOL to Bending Spoons in January 2026.

Care instructions
