Reporting by The Wall Street Journal in October 2015 questioned its technology and testing practices. Regulatory actions, lawsuits, and lost partnerships followed. Theranos ended laboratory operations in 2017, announced its shutdown on September 4, 2018, and transferred patents to Fortress Investment Group later that month.
