Trans World Airlines (TWA) Youth Hoodie / Sweatshirt
A Trans World Airlines youth hoodie brings a classic aviation story into the next generation. TWA started with coast-to-coast service in 1930, built deep ties to St. Louis and Kansas City, and eventually carried its name across the Atlantic and beyond. Remembered for jet-age travel, distinctive visual style, and the famous JFK Flight Center, the airline offers plenty for young aviation fans to discover. This is an easy pick for airport visits, museum days, family trips, and everyday adventures.
Trans World Airlines, or TWA, operated as a United States scheduled trunk carrier from 1930 until its acquisition by American Airlines in 2001. Its history began with the October 1, 1930 merger of Transcontinental Air Transport, Western Air Express, Maddux Air Lines, Standard, and Pittsburgh Aviation Industries Corporation into Transcontinental & Western Air. The original route linked New York City and Los Angeles through St. Louis, Kansas City, and other stops. Renamed Trans World Airlines in 1950, the carrier expanded after World War II to Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Howard Hughes gained control by 1944 and later relinquished it in 1960. TWA opened the Eero Saarinen-designed Flight Center at JFK Airport in 1962, developed its largest hub at St. Louis Lambert International Airport, and acquired Ozark Air Lines in 1986. After financial restructurings, American Airlines acquired TWA in January 2001. TWA continued as an LLC until July 1, 2003.
