Compaq Cuffed Beanie
Carry a piece of PC history into cooler days with a Compaq beanie inspired by a name that moved from the Portable to Deskpro desktops, LTE notebooks, Presario machines, and enterprise systems. Compaq's rise from a 1982 Texas startup to a leading PC manufacturer remains a landmark story for computer collectors. A straightforward accessory for fans of classic hardware and 1980s through 1990s technology culture.
Compaq Computer Corporation was founded on February 16, 1982, by former Texas Instruments senior managers Rod Canion, Jim Harris, and Bill Murto. Initially based in Harris County, Texas, the company introduced the Compaq Portable in November 1982 and released it in March 1983. Its legally clean-room-engineered IBM PC compatibility helped establish the brand in personal computing. Compaq expanded with the Deskpro desktop in 1984, the Deskpro 386 in 1986, and the SystemPro server in 1989. Under Eckhard Pfeiffer, who became president and CEO in 1991, Compaq entered the retail market with Presario computers and became the top PC manufacturer in 1994. The company acquired Tandem Computers in 1997 and Digital Equipment Corporation in 1998, adding major server and services businesses. Hewlett-Packard acquired Compaq for $25 billion in 2002. HP later used the name on HP Compaq business computers, while Compaq Evo was replaced in 2003 and HP ProBook in 2009. HP discontinued the broader Compaq brand for lower-end systems in 2013.

This cuffed beanie carries a lived-in street energy—soft, warm, and quietly bold. The low-profile embroidery sits on the cuff like a personal insignia: a small, slightly distressed logo with a touch of red that reads as both vintage and current. It slips on easily and stays put through commutes, late-night walks, and chilly market runs, adding a subtle graphic edge without shouting.
Wear it with a worn denim jacket, layered knit, or an oversized coat. It works for creatives who like to curate a look that’s casual but considered, for city cyclists who need dependable warmth, or for anyone who favors compact, tactile details. The hypoallergenic acrylic knit keeps things comfortable against the skin while the 12" cuff gives you styling flexibility—fold it high for warmth or roll it low for a slouchier silhouette. This is a small, everyday piece that quietly completes an outfit and ages into its own personality.
