GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Top off a cold-weather rotation with a Getty Oil beanie rooted in a landmark American petroleum name. Incorporated by J. Paul Getty in 1942, the company became known through oil ventures, service-station culture, and a changing corporate path that included Getty Petroleum Marketing. The name carries Oklahoma beginnings, Northeast station memories, and the wide reach of mid-century oil history. A compact way to wear collector-minded fuel-brand nostalgia.

Getty Oil Company was an American oil marketing company with origins in the large integrated oil business founded by J. Paul Getty. Getty incorporated the company in 1942 after earlier working in Oklahoma oil fields with his father, George Getty. Beginning in 1949, J. Paul Getty negotiated a 30-year oil concession in the neutral zone between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. After his death in 1976, Gordon Getty and his family inherited a 40 percent interest. In 1984, a planned sale to Pennzoil involving Getty and its proven oil reserves gave way to Texaco's acquisition deal, leading to the major Texaco v. Pennzoil litigation. Getty's reserves were sold, while only some refineries changed hands, and the business continued as a downstream entity. Northeast Getty stations were sold as a condition of the buyout, and the company became Getty Petroleum Marketing Inc. Its marketing and distribution segments were spun off in 1997, sold to Lukoil in 2000, and later sold to Cambridge Securities LLC in 2011. Getty Oil went defunct in 2012.

This cuffed beanie carries a lived-in street energy—soft, warm, and quietly bold. The low-profile embroidery sits on the cuff like a personal insignia: a small, slightly distressed logo with a touch of red that reads as both vintage and current. It slips on easily and stays put through commutes, late-night walks, and chilly market runs, adding a subtle graphic edge without shouting.

Wear it with a worn denim jacket, layered knit, or an oversized coat. It works for creatives who like to curate a look that’s casual but considered, for city cyclists who need dependable warmth, or for anyone who favors compact, tactile details. The hypoallergenic acrylic knit keeps things comfortable against the skin while the 12" cuff gives you styling flexibility—fold it high for warmth or roll it low for a slouchier silhouette. This is a small, everyday piece that quietly completes an outfit and ages into its own personality.
