Founded in Georgia in 1979, Atlantic Southeast Airlines grew from a small regional carrier into one of the largest operators in the Delta Connection system. From its Atlanta base, ASA spent decades feeding passengers into Delta’s massive hub network, eventually operating hundreds of daily flights aboard turboprops and regional jets across the United States.

For years, millions of passengers flew on Atlantic Southeast airplanes while their tickets mostly said Delta.

In 2005, Delta sold ASA to SkyWest, and a few years later SkyWest acquired ExpressJet. The two regional airlines were combined, with the Atlantic Southeast name disappearing as operations transitioned to the ExpressJet brand.

More than three decades of flying passengers for somebody else — and eventually somebody else got the airline too.
