Cablevision
Ghost Corp Apparel — resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Founded in 1973 by Charles Dolan, Cablevision grew into one of the largest cable television providers in the United States, becoming especially dominant across Long Island, New York City, and the surrounding suburbs. Its Optimum brand brought cable TV, internet, and phone service into millions of homes, while the company also built a broader media empire that included Newsday and Madison Square Garden.
For decades, Cablevision was the kind of company customers complained about constantly — and still somehow paid every month.
In 2016, French telecom giant Altice acquired Cablevision for about $17.7 billion, ending more than four decades as an independent company. The Cablevision name disappeared, while Optimum lived on under new ownership.
Hundreds of channels. Millions of customers. And somehow the one channel you actually wanted was always in the next package up.
