Bring Aloha Airlines history to the table with a coaster inspired by a carrier woven into Hawaii’s travel memory. The company began as Trans-Pacific Airlines in 1946 and was renamed Aloha Airlines in 1958. Over decades, it connected Honolulu with islands including Maui, Hilo, Kauai, and Hawaii Island while evolving from DC-3 service to Boeing 737 operations. It is a practical collectible for aviation fans, home bars, desks, and Hawaiian history displays.

Aloha Airlines was a Honolulu, Hawaii-based passenger airline that operated from 1946 to 2008. Publisher Ruddy F. Tongg Sr. founded it as charter carrier Trans-Pacific Airlines, beginning service on July 26, 1946, with a Douglas C-47 flight from Honolulu to Maui and Hilo. Scheduled service followed in 1949 after federal approval. The company used TPA-The Aloha Airline from 1950, then became Aloha Airlines in 1958 under CEO Hung Wo Ching. Its inter-island fleet evolved from DC-3s to Fairchild F-27s and Vickers Viscounts, then BAC One-Elevens and Boeing 737s. Aloha introduced 737-200 “Funbirds” in 1969 and became an all-jet airline in 1971. It acquired Princeville Airways in 1987, renaming it Aloha IslandAir; that carrier became Island Air in 1995 and was sold in 2003. Aloha added mainland service in 2000. After bankruptcy filings in 2004 and 2008, scheduled passenger flights ended March 31, 2008. Saltchuk acquired the cargo division in May 2008, while the Aloha name and intellectual property were purchased by Yucaipa Companies in 2011.

Ceramic coaster engraved with a simple, vintage-style wordmark that brings a quiet, archival charm to a coffee table or office desk. The cool ceramic top takes heat and condensation with calm confidence while the cork backing keeps cups steady and surfaces safe. It sits easily beside a well-loved mug during long work sessions or late-night reading, a small, steady surface that feels both practical and quietly nostalgic.
