Ask Jeeves was founded in 1996 in Berkeley, California, by Garrett Gruener and David Warthen. Built around asking questions in everyday language as well as keyword searching, its original software was designed and implemented by Gary Chevsky; Warthen, Chevsky, and Justin Grant led the graphical interface and initial AskJeeves.com launch. The beta arrived in mid-April 1997, followed by a full launch on June 1, 1997. Its valet mascot, Jeeves, drew on P. G. Wodehouse's fictional character. Ask Jeeves became publicly traded during the dot-com era, with ASKJ on NASDAQ from July 1999 until July 2005. It acquired Teoma on September 18, 2001, and IAC acquired Ask Jeeves in July 2005 for $1.85 billion. In February 2006, the company dropped the Jeeves name and became Ask. After ending in-house crawler development in 2010, the service shifted toward question-and-answer content and outsourced search functions. Ask.com later emphasized articles, trending topics, entertainment, and automated news. It was shut down on May 1, 2026.

Care instructions
- Keep the burning candle within sight, and keep away from children and pets. Never burn the candle near flammable items. For best results, burn the candle for 3 - 4 hours in each lighting and trim the wick to 1/4" before lighting. Discontinue use with 1/2" of wax remaining.
