GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Give your desk, counter, or garage workspace a small dose of Atlantic Richfield Company history. ARCO was founded in 1966 through the merger of Atlantic Refining and Richfield Oil Corporation, combining long-established East Coast and California fuel traditions. The brand’s red diamond Spark, designed by Herbert Bayer, remains a standout in American corporate design. This foldable mobile phone display stand is a useful conversation piece for ARCO collectors, road-culture fans, and anyone drawn to classic service-station graphics.

ARCO was established in 1966 as the Atlantic Richfield Company, created when East Coast-based Atlantic Refining merged with California-based Richfield Oil Corporation. Its name combined those predecessors, while Herbert Bayer designed the red diamond ARCO Spark trademark. Atlantic heritage reached back to 1866, and its first filling station opened in Pittsburgh in 1915; Richfield opened an early California station in Los Angeles in 1917. ARCO acquired Sinclair Oil in 1969 and unified its service brands under ARCO. The company discovered Prudhoe Bay Oil Field with Exxon in 1968 and opened its first ampm convenience store in Southern California in 1978. ARCO acquired Anaconda Copper Mining Company in 1977, spun off ARCO Chemical in 1987, and sold ARCO Solar to Siemens in 1990. BP acquired ARCO in 2000, with ARCO Alaska sold to Phillips Petroleum and ARCO Pipe Line Company acquired by TEPPCO. In 2012 and 2013, BP sold the Carson refinery, ARCO brand ownership, and specified western assets to Tesoro. Tesoro became Andeavor in 2017 and was acquired by Marathon Petroleum in 2018.
