GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.
Tee off with a nod to one of southern New England's most remembered retail names. These Benny's golf balls celebrate the chain founded in Providence in 1924 by Benjamin Bromberg, a familiar presence in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut until its final store closed in 2017. They are ideal for a casual round, a local tournament, or a gift for the golfer who remembers Benny's as part of everyday hometown life. A distinctive way to pair love of the game with affection for a vanished regional original.
Benny's was a New England discount retail chain founded in Providence, Rhode Island, in 1924. Benjamin Bromberg, who had worked as a manager for American Auto Supply Company, opened Benny's Auto Store on November 9, 1924. The business added a second Rhode Island store in East Providence in 1929, followed by its first Massachusetts location in Taunton in 1931. The Esmond Mill became the company headquarters in 1965. After Benjamin Bromberg died in 1966, his son Malcolm became president. Benny's expanded through Massachusetts and Connecticut during the 1960s and 1970s, reaching as far as Cape Cod; its final new store opened in Killingly, Connecticut, in 2005. Following Malcolm Bromberg's death in 2014, ownership passed to Arnold and Howard Bromberg and Judy Rosenstein. On September 8, 2017, Benny's announced the closure of all 31 stores. Its last location, in Greenville, Smithfield, Rhode Island, closed on December 11, 2017. Twenty-nine former locations were purchased by Johnston-based Carpionato Group, and some were later sold to other retailers.
