Delia's, Inc., stylized dELiA*s, launched in 1993 as a lifestyle brand of apparel and accessories created by two Yale University graduates. The independent retailer and direct marketer focused on girls and young women, building a prominent U.S. audience through direct-mail catalogs, websites, and mall-based specialty stores. Its assortment included clothing, footwear, cosmetics, accessories, and room furnishings. Delia's acquired Gurl.com in December 1997, later grouping it and related sites under the teen-focused iTurf online subsidiary in 1999. Alloy Inc. acquired Delia's in 2003 for $50 million; Alloy spun the company off in 2005. In January 2013, HRSH Acquisitions LLC bought Alloy Inc., then marketed as Alloy Apparel. Delia's filed for Chapter 11 protection in December 2014 and announced the liquidation of its 95 stores. Steve Russo of Fab/Starpoint acquired the brand in 2015 and reopened it as an online-only business that August. Dolls Kill later licensed the name, relaunching Delia's as a sub-brand in November 2018, with online sales and pop-ups in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
