Eastern Air Lines Youth Hoodie / Sweatshirt
A youth layer for the next generation of aviation fans, inspired by Eastern Air Lines and its long place in American travel history. Eastern grew from air-mail-era roots into a major carrier serving Miami, New York, Atlanta, Washington, the Caribbean, and more before ending operations in 1991. Its bold hockey stick identity, Eastern Shuttle service, and jet-age legacy still resonate with collectors. A natural pick for airport visits, aviation museums, travel days, and cool-weather adventures.
Eastern Air Lines operated as a United States trunk carrier from 1926 to 1991. Its lineage included Florida Airways and Pitcairn Aviation, which held a late-1920s air-mail contract between New York City and Atlanta. Clement Keys bought Pitcairn in 1929 and renamed it Eastern Air Transport in 1930; following purchase by General Motors and changes after the Airmail Act of 1934, it became Eastern Air Lines. World War I ace Eddie Rickenbacker acquired the carrier in 1938, during an era of route growth linking cities from New York and Chicago to Miami, Atlanta, New Orleans, and Washington. Eastern bought Colonial Airlines in 1956, Mackey Airlines in 1967, Caribair in 1973, and Braniff International's South American routes in 1982. It launched the Eastern Air Lines Shuttle in 1961. Texas Air acquired Eastern in 1986. Following labor conflict, bankruptcy, and restructuring efforts, Eastern ceased flying on January 19, 1991. American acquired Latin American routes, while Delta, USAir, Northwest, and others acquired selected assets.
