Paine Webber Jackson & Curtis Ceramic Coaster
Set down your drink beside a piece of corporate history. Paine Webber Jackson & Curtis reflects a financial lineage that began when Jackson & Curtis opened in Boston in 1879, then expanded through the 1942 merger with Paine & Webber. The name carries associations with Congress Street, New England brokerage, the New York Stock Exchange, and the firm’s later move to New York. A thoughtful tabletop accent for offices, home bars, and collectors of classic financial brands.
Jackson & Curtis began in July 1879, when Charles Cabot Jackson and Laurence Curtis founded an investment banking firm on Congress Street in Boston, Massachusetts. The business started with two employees and leased Congress Street premises in May 1881. A member of the Boston Stock Exchange, it acquired a seat on the New York Stock Exchange in 1890. In June 1942, after the difficult years of the Great Depression, Jackson & Curtis merged with the Boston brokerage firm Paine & Webber. The combined business, Paine, Webber, Jackson & Curtis, had 22 branch offices and became a significant participant in the New England financial market. Known as Paine Webber Jackson & Curtis, the firm moved its headquarters from Boston to New York in 1963. Its holding company, PaineWebber Inc., was incorporated in 1970 and went public on the New York Stock Exchange in 1974. The company acquired Mitchell Hutchins in 1977 and Blyth, Eastman Dillon & Co. in 1979. In 1984, its divisions were consolidated as Paine Webber Inc., ending the Jackson & Curtis name. Paine Webber was acquired by UBS AG in 2000.
Ceramic coaster engraved with a simple, vintage-style wordmark that brings a quiet, archival charm to a coffee table or office desk.
