Eastern Air Lines Kids Tee / T-Shirt
Let young aviation fans discover the story of Eastern Air Lines with a tee inspired by one of America’s best-known carriers. From air-mail roots in the 1920s to its final flight in 1991, Eastern served travelers across the East Coast, Florida, the Caribbean, and beyond. The legendary hockey stick look and Eastern Shuttle legacy make this a fun connection to the jet-age airport world. Made for family trips, museum days, and future flight enthusiasts.
Eastern Air Lines operated as a United States trunk carrier from 1926 to 1991. Its lineage included Florida Airways and Pitcairn Aviation, which held a late-1920s air-mail contract between New York City and Atlanta. Clement Keys bought Pitcairn in 1929 and renamed it Eastern Air Transport in 1930; following purchase by General Motors and changes after the Airmail Act of 1934, it became Eastern Air Lines. World War I ace Eddie Rickenbacker acquired the carrier in 1938, during an era of route growth linking cities from New York and Chicago to Miami, Atlanta, New Orleans, and Washington. Eastern bought Colonial Airlines in 1956, Mackey Airlines in 1967, Caribair in 1973, and Braniff International's South American routes in 1982. It launched the Eastern Air Lines Shuttle in 1961. Texas Air acquired Eastern in 1986. Following labor conflict, bankruptcy, and restructuring efforts, Eastern ceased flying on January 19, 1991. American acquired Latin American routes, while Delta, USAir, Northwest, and others acquired selected assets.
