Enron Youth Hoodie / Sweatshirt
Layer up with a bold reference to one of the most recognizable corporate identities of the 1990s. This Enron youth hoodie / sweatshirt connects to the company’s Houston pipeline roots, its growth into energy and commodities trading, and the tricolor E identity introduced in 1997. It is an uncommon choice for young collectors and families drawn to Texas business history, corporate design nostalgia, and the complex story of a company whose dramatic 2001 bankruptcy still invites discussion.
Enron Corporation was an American energy, commodities and services company based in Houston, Texas. Its roots included Houston Natural Gas, formed from Houston Oil Co. in 1925, and InterNorth, formed in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1930. In May 1985, InterNorth acquired Houston Natural Gas for $2.3 billion, and the companies voted to merge on July 16. The combined business was first called HNG/InterNorth Inc.; after a proposed Enteron name was withdrawn, the Enron name was introduced in March 1986. Kenneth Lay led the company and moved its headquarters to Houston. Enron expanded from pipeline operations into natural-gas trading, power, overseas projects, communications and other businesses. It acquired Portland General Electric in 1997 and Wessex Water in 1998 through its Azurix venture. Accounting fraud was revealed in 2001, and Enron filed for bankruptcy on December 2, 2001. It emerged from bankruptcy in November 2004 as Enron Creditors Recovery Corp. Its last remaining subsidiary, Prisma Energy International, was sold in 2006, and the recovery corporation was dissolved in 2016.
