GhostCorp Apparel - resurrecting iconic corporate ghosts.

Set down your drink on a piece inspired by Getty Oil’s long route through American petroleum history. J. Paul Getty incorporated the company in 1942, and its legacy later crossed Northeast station culture, Getty Petroleum Marketing, Lukoil, and the celebrated Texaco-Pennzoil litigation. This ceramic coaster adds a small but distinctive note of service-station nostalgia to a desk, den, kitchen, or bar. It is made for collectors who enjoy classic corporate stories and old fuel-brand imagery.

Getty Oil Company was an American oil marketing company whose roots lay in the large integrated oil company developed by J. Paul Getty. Getty incorporated Getty Oil in 1942, after earlier work in Oklahoma oil fields alongside his father, George Getty. Beginning in 1949, J. Paul Getty negotiated a 30-year concession in the neutral zone between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. After his death in 1976, Gordon Getty and his family inherited a 40 percent interest. In 1984, a planned sale of Getty and its proven oil reserves to Pennzoil was displaced by a deal with Texaco, leading to the Texaco v. Pennzoil litigation. Texaco later filed for bankruptcy and Pennzoil settled for $3 billion. Although reserves were sold and some refineries changed hands, Getty continued downstream. Northeast Getty stations were sold as a buyout condition, and the company became Getty Petroleum Marketing Inc. Its marketing and distribution unit was spun off in 1997, sold to Lukoil in 2000, and then sold to Cambridge Securities LLC in 2011. Getty Oil went defunct in 2012.

Ceramic coaster engraved with a simple, vintage-style wordmark that brings a quiet, archival charm to a coffee table or office desk. The cool ceramic top takes heat and condensation with calm confidence while the cork backing keeps cups steady and surfaces safe. It sits easily beside a well-loved mug during long work sessions or late-night reading, a small, steady surface that feels both practical and quietly nostalgic.
