Lehman Brothers Youth Hoodie / Sweatshirt
Bring a piece of Wall Street history into everyday rotation with this Lehman Brothers youth hoodie or sweatshirt. The name traces from an 1844 Montgomery dry-goods store and cotton business to New York finance, including 119 Liberty Street and the New York Stock Exchange. Its recognizable corporate identity makes this an easy pick for young market-history fans, future finance minds, family collectors, and anyone drawn to the visual language of classic business culture.
Lehman Brothers began in Montgomery, Alabama, when Henry Lehman opened the H. Lehman dry-goods store in 1844. After Emanuel joined in 1847, it became H. Lehman and Bro.; Mayer's arrival in 1850 established Lehman Brothers. The firm accepted cotton as merchandise payment and developed a cotton-trading business. Following Henry's death in 1855, the remaining brothers expanded the commodities and brokerage operation. A New York branch opened at 119 Liberty Street by 1858, and the headquarters later moved to New York City. Lehman helped found the New York Cotton Exchange in 1870, joined the New York Stock Exchange in 1887, and underwrote its first public offering in 1899. It merged with Kuhn, Loeb & Co. in 1977, was acquired by Shearson/American Express in 1984, and returned to public ownership as Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. in 1994. On September 15, 2008, it filed for Chapter 11 protection. Barclays acquired major North American operations, while Nomura acquired franchises in Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East.
