Celebrate a standout chapter of low-fare airline history with this ValuJet Airlines hoodie / sweatshirt. ValuJet was founded in 1992, began operations from Atlanta in 1993, and became known for its Atlanta-centered network, used McDonnell Douglas aircraft, vivid blue-and-yellow trim, and smiling Critter mascot. The carrier’s brief but visible run remains compelling to collectors, especially because its business later took the AirTran name. Made for relaxed daily wear, this piece connects aviation nostalgia with a distinctive 1990s travel-era identity.

ValuJet Airlines was a U.S. ultra low-cost carrier founded in 1992 that began operations on October 26, 1993. Its first flight, Flight 901, flew from Atlanta to Tampa using a McDonnell Douglas DC-9-21 formerly operated by Delta Air Lines. Headquartered in unincorporated Clayton County, Georgia, ValuJet built an Atlanta-centered network serving destinations in the eastern United States and Canada. The airline used an all-McDonnell Douglas fleet, primarily used DC-9s, and its white aircraft carried blue and yellow trim with the smiling Critter mascot. Following the May 11, 1996 crash of Flight 592 in the Florida Everglades, the FAA grounded the airline on June 11. ValuJet resumed service on September 26 with a reduced fleet. In 1997, ValuJet merged with Airways Corporation, parent of the smaller AirTran Airways, and the combined business adopted the AirTran name. Operations transferred to AirTran Airways in 1998, while ValuJet's legal existence ended in 1999. AirTran was acquired by Southwest Airlines in 2011 and ended flights in 2014.
